Bicentennial Man-The Titanic feel

Postby Alexrc on Tue Sep 30, 2008 5:33 pm

I absolutely adore the Bicentennial Man soundtrack.I loved it when I first saw the film and I went back this week and yet again fell in love with it. What really struck me was it's likeness to Titanic.I know it's the same guy but watching the two films in 2 days I noticed a similarity and it really made me appreciate BMs soundtrack more.I think both films are simiar in their feel and how they play out i.e. tragedy, two totally different characters falling in love, death, sadness, joy etc and every scene is matched perfectly by the music. James Horner is a genius and I have to say the two films and soundtracks compliment eachother perfectly.

It's a very special soundtrack for me :)

Yeah, same here. I've never compared those two films though.
I've always thought the Beautiful Mind soundtrack, also James horner, has similar sounds.

For me too, the Bicentennial Man soundtrack is something special...I can only listen to it in certein circumstances, it has SO much meaning. And the song by Celine Dion, amazing and very emotional. Overall, it's the soundtrack I love most but hardly ever listen to.

Have you ever seen the clip of Celine Dion signing that song with clips of BM in between?
If not I'll try to find it and upload it to the RWF Youtube channel.

The official video or are you referring to a seperate one?

I've seen the official video and it gives me a rather good feeling watching it.Theres just passion there that I really enjoy.

I guess I compare the two as they both gave me similar experiences and meant a lot to me for very similar reasons :)

See, that's why I didn't want to have a Youtube channel.
The video was rejected. Sorry, but I can't share it with so many people through the site itself.

Heh, funny. The very first thing I thought of buying when I came to the US (for the first time) was the BM soundtrack. No video games, gadgets or anything of the likes. I got so excited that I listened to it night and day.

Enjoy it!
I searched so hard for the orchestral version played during the credits of BM but couldn't find it anywhere. It was a very long track linked with 2 other tracks in the BM album ("Gift of Immortality" at the end of the movie and "The Passage of Time" at the end of the credits).

James Horner tends to "recycle" his soundtracks every once in a while. Watch "Braveheart" and you will find something of BM in there. It's almost like he copied the entire section of a BM track into Braveheart (but Braveheart came out before BM ^^). I can't blame Horner though, the soundtrack was so good.

Please do. I must say I'm curious where that edition originated from. The sender of that album must work for Sony Pictures or something similar to have their hands on such a thing.

Ok, I uploaded it to the server. I can only make this available for a select number of people. If you want a download of this 2 disc edition, please let me know and I'll send you a link. I send the link to your PM box, scott.

Thanks Linda. People, this is your best chance to get the soundtrack. It is found NO WHERE ELSE. I popped my eyes trying to find it to no avail.

Didn't actually wanna tell you this, but I have a third version. Also a 2 disc edition, slightly longer than the one I put on the server now. Also, it has a higher bitrate (320 instead of 192). The files a a lot bigger though, that's why I uploaded the smaller, but still awesome version of the 2 disc edition.

Yeah, it has never been released, so it's kinda hard to find.

Ok, I was wrong about the other higher quality edition...The quality is in fact a lot better, but the total run time is about 2 minutes shorter. The song "The very thought of you" is not included. The end title song by Celine Dion is there though.
I didn't listen to it for obvious reasons, but I wanted to know the differences, so I browsed through the tracks quickly...
The version I made available is basically a recording of the isolated score track on the DVD. The higher quality version seems to come from somewhere else. Since I receive these kinda things from a friend I don't always know where he gets them from.
Anyway, both versions are great!

I'll keep the score available for another week, so if anyone is interested let me know. I'll delete it on sunday oct 12, 2008.

You're implying that there's a special edition of Bicentennial Man DVD? Or is the music somehow ripped from the normal DVD? I'm curious because I can't find any special edition of BM on the Internet. If all soundtracks are indeed rippable from the DVD, that means that the voice and the music are 2 separate layers. Interesting.

I always thought that the "Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" (the normal 1-disc version) was a little too short. It did include the important tracks so it was satisfying.

No, I believe every Bicentennial Man DVD edition has the isolated score track. On almost every DVD you can choose the language, and on the BM DVD they added, instead of another language, an isolated score track. If you have th DVD, it should be mentioned on the back of the cover.
