RWF Meeting August 28, 2009

Postby RWLinda on Fri Aug 28, 2009 9:12 am

It's gonna happen tomorrow. The 1st big official RWF meeting!
I've done several before, but those were small, almost secret meetings as I didn't let anyone know about them, haha. Only the people who were invited knew.

Anyway, tomorrow we have a big day coming up. We'll be with at least 8/9 people, going to Robin's film "World's Greatest Dad" at the Bridge Theater in San Francisco. Then we'll go downtown/to North Beach for some drinks, talks and dinner. In the early evening we'll head off to Bimbo's to see Robin's show.

I can't wait and this is by far the biggest RWF meeting I've done or organised so far. Loving it :)

If anyone reading this is able to make it to the film and/or the show, feel free to join! Just drop me a line. I'll be at the movie theater around 2pm.
I hope to be able to write short review on what the meeting was like and post some pictures.

It's been so busy these past couple of weeks that I can barely keep up with everyone here on the forum (and I'm behind on updating the site too). I've read everything, but simply can't think straight enough to post some interesting replies. Sorry about that, but I love the fact that so many people are actively posting stuff here. Thanks!

Everything worked out great today!!
Everyone was there for the movie and some more joined us later at Bimbo's.
I promoted Robin's film a bit, by handing out a bunch of postcard from the film. Hopefully some people will go see it now. Anyway, it's late, I still have to get my bags packed and my flight leaves in only a few hours. So I hope to get at least 1 or 2 hours of sleep this night and catch up during my 15 hour flight.
Anyway, I'll write a small thingy about today while I'm on the road going back home and post it on the website!

Thanks so much for keeping things up to date, Linda. (And get some rest! You deserve it.)

Haha, thnx. The word "rest" doesn't exist in my vocabulary, but I'll try :).

I'm already back at work. Had a good flight and instead of working on the meeting review, I worked on the new update (the 3 added Hailey shows). Anyway, will get some RWF work done as soon as I'm done working and training (cycling).

Still working on a short review.. will put it on the lastest news page later today.
Here's a bit about that day that won't make it to the review...

Friday August 28th Robin was going to perform at Bimbo's in San Francisco, CA and I was about to attend it with 11 other fans I've met either at the venue before or those who've I emailed with. After the show I'd go backstage and meet Robin for the 6th time that month (16th or so time overall). I was going to leave SF the next day for who knows how long, and I wouldn't get to see RW for quite some time. I thought about how I've never told him why I'm doing the site and this would be the perfect time. He's thanked me for it many times that I thought he should know. I had a really good, and as always serious chat with him and told him exactly why the site exists. It feels as if a heavy weight fell off my shoulders and I'm glad I told him.

I'm so glad you did this. As someone who lost a parent very unexpectedly when I was young, I recognize keenly that life is short and sometimes you don't get another chance to tell people what's in your heart. Good on you for getting it out there.

I agree with Soozcat, sometimes life can be short and if there is something you feel the need to tell someone, it's best to tell them now. That chance can disappear in the blink of an eye.

Oh yeah, I'm really happy about how it all went.
In fact, Robin said he'd change a tiny bit in his show, "in you honor" he said. Have to wait and see if he really does ... but his response was really sweet :).

Yeah, well, I'm not saying it on purpose (some people know because they met me after the after party at Bimbo's that friday or just because they're very good friends).
Like I said, it's a minor, minor change (only 2 words) and it's likely he forgets or doesn't change it for whatever reason. And I'm not putting up here what it is, because I won't be able to watch the HBO special when it airs (There's no way of getting HBO in another country), and I don't want other people to tell me here on the forum whether he did change it or not. That'd just feel weird, as it's a very personal thing ... for me. It'd mean the world to me if he does change it, really.
The reason why the site exists is a very personal one as well and it's definitely more to me than "just a website" ... I've heard other people say that it shows that.
Anyway, Once the special aired I'll let you know what it was or should've been :)

edit: the only way for me to watch the HBO special would be if someone with a webcam or something logs onto MSN and point the cam at their TV, haha. Never tried that before.
