Because of the new forum it might hard for some to find out where you can change your avatar.
Go to your "User Control Panel", on the horizontal tabs, click "Profile", then in the vertical tabs "edit avatar" will appear. It'll explain itself from then on.
Also, the search function hasn't worked since the upgrade. The search index is being rebuilt and may take a few hours. Once the indexing is done, you'll actually get results when searching for something
