Installed a MOD today that'll ask new user (when registering) whether he/she is human or not. Hopefully this will cut back the number of spammers/robots. Currently there're about 50 new registrations each day with 999 out of 1000 being genuine.

What is that MOD? I suppose it isn't short for "moderator".

It's a modification.
This forum has a default and you can install mods for for example better security. There're like a million mods out there and it's always a challange which one is best for your problem. Installing it costs an hour to several hours.

Made a minor change in the permission section of the forum. Lately many spam messages were posted and I removed them very shortly after they were poste. But hopefully the minor permission change will keep the spam messages away now. We'll see. It's a constant struggle to keep those spammers out :(.

Yeah, I sometimes see advertisements of software and stuff. They are quite the pests...

Sorry everyone. There was a huge still unknown problem with the forum or the server on which it was running.

Thnx for letting me know.

Up until now new users had to activate their account themselves.
I noticed not a whole lot of new users created an account, so I figured something must've been wrong. I still don't know what's going on, but I disable to activation process. When a new user creates a new account, it is activated right away.
I'll see how that'll work out, because in the past it did attract a lot of spammers....

As all of you know the site received a new look about 6 months ago. The forum was left behind in that process, but I finally picked it up again. I started redesigning it. The whole structure will remain the same, only the colors will change (sounds very simple, but takes an enormous amount of time. There is so much to customize). Anyway, don't tell me I didn't warn you ;)

Expected launch of the new look? June/july.

*edit june 13, 2010* Progressing nicely. About half way customization and starting to get the looks of the overall site :)
