Surgery

Postby RWLinda on Thu Mar 05, 2009 11:13 pm

Robin Williams has postponed the remainder of his "Weapons of Self-Destruction Tour" to undergo surgery for aortic valve replacement.

The tour is expected to resume in the fall, according to a release sent this afternoon from his publicist. It's been reported that the actor is a Miami hospital, however Williams' publicist would not confirm his location.

"I'm so touched by everyone's support and well wishes," said Williams in the release. "This tour has been amazing fun and I can't wait to get back out on the road after a little tune-up."

Speculation on the medical condition of Williams had been rampant after the comedian canceled two shows at the Seminole Hard Rock & Casino in Hollywood.

Tickets purchased at the box office or through Ticketmaster outlets can be refunded at the point of purchase.

Ok, I'm gonna see what we as a fansite can do to support him. Suggestions welcome!

Yes that would be fun but I need to think big and out of the box. I will get back to you so I can think.

Wow, this is more serious then we were told yesterday. I thought he just had a minor heart attack (similar to what happened to an uncle of mine who was around Robin's age a few years ago and was ok)

Didn't Barbara Bush have the same thing? But the difference was that she is eighty three and Robin Williams is ONLY 57. (Since Barbara's son is now unemployed he must have lots of time to visit her LOL)

Anyway to be honest here, this kind of thing could kill his career or force him to work less. That is sad , but his health is more important then entertaining us.
A friend said as a joke "What if Robin WIlliams retires?"

And what would Robin do without doing stand-up and possibly movies? I know he LOVES doing stand up and his career is his life. I am sure it cost him his two marriages.

But then he has hobbies too: computer games, reading, collecting toys and riding his bike (which he wouldn't be able to do anymore I guess)

But 57 is just too young for this. Health is so important. (And I am going for my physical tommorrow which I HATE)

This is a supprise. Then I got another suprise: My first ex-boyfriend's brother died yesterday.

Oh well,

As Robin Williams says when he imitates the French:

"Such is life"

I know and it is so sad. I hope he pulls through ok. I have a ticket to meet and see him on March 30 and would of been my 1st time meeting him but I'd rather he be around then seeing his comedy show. He needs to take a break and REST for a while but I am so worried about him and I am sure he thinks he is disappointing us by all this so we need to let him know it is okay and we love him no matter what his career comes to. We just want him healthy. Life is so short!

Yeah, me too. I have to go to school tomorrow (phew, glad I don't have to go to work)
Anyway, at school I'll be surrounded by very creative people and will see if they can help come up with something original. My brain is slowly dying right now.

Sending letters might be very uncreative (dict says this word is exists! :) ), but we have to do something to send him our well wishes and prayers. I am in whatever you do!

It would be nice to sign a card thru the Linda's website. Linda could design it we could sign it. Then Linda could get it to Robin's people. I think all of our prayers are with him right now. He sounds like a fighter. We love you Robin

Hi everyone,
I've been a fan of Robin's for many years now, so it's about time that I signed up here at his fansite.
I'm really sad to see that Robin is sick. I sincerely hope that he will get better soon.

Maybe you can send him a scrapbook of things that fans make or write? I don't know if that would be
possible for you, but that's all that I could think of besides just sending cards.

Anyway, Robin - We all love you and hope that you get well soon. Take care of yourself (and get more sleep  ).
Take care all!

Linda:

How will you get anything to Robin. He's just too big a star.

Obviously, he never goes to this site. When I told my father he just made fun of the situation. He said: "Are you going to send him flowers?". That was terrible. Typical of an old Jewish father.

How about anyone who wants to cheer him up makes videos with their webcams or something, saying nice things and making jokes? I don't know if that's the best idea? But a fun video is something that comes to mind.

I would suggest to make the protest on behalf of all people, who loving Robin - not to force conditions with tour... After operation he need at least in small rest. ..half a year, year.. I don't know... Robin on a limit - about this speaks his heart...Do not clap hands as soon as he leaves after operation

I have a hard time dealing with all this and will take about 2-4 hours off now to get myself back together.
The emails are very supportive!
Because there're not a lot of places to go for fans, the load that being put on my shoulders right now is quite heavy. I'll have to slow down a bit, but will work hard on the site, so it'll be up to date. Also, all emails will be answered in the order they came in.

I don't know exactly what to do yet, but I think I'll bundle all emails and posts here on the forum and get them to Robin somehow afterwards. Don't know if this is a possibility, but I'll work on this as soon as I feel a little bit better.
Will keep y'all updated!

You're doing a brilliant job, Linda, well done!
I really hope RW recovers very soon but I hope he takes some time out to look after himself! I hope he has someone looking after him too.
I should think that, other than the obvious heart problem, he is probably in pretty good health in terms of blood pressure, BMI etc due to all the cycling he does so hopefully he is in a better position than others who have had the same operation to make a good recovery...
